Telehealth Assessments

Currently Andrew is conducting sessions via the Telehealth program Coviu or sometimes Zoom, including all consultation and also psychometric assessments. We will  be back doing face-to-face consultations and assessments as soon as the lockdown restrictions are lifted and as soon as it is safe to do so. Hopefully this should be very soon. In the meantime we are booking in advance. Please contact the office to arrange an appointment.

The psychometric assessment, usually includes a cognitive/IQ assessment (such as WISC-V or WAIS-IV), achievement tests (such as WIAT-III, Woodcock Reading Mastery Test) and parent/teacher ratings (scales). If online, the assessments are conducted via screenshare and/or external camera and have been working very successfully via Telehealth.

If you have any specific questions about this process or would like to arrange an appointment, please contact us.

Parent Tips on Coping with the Pandemic, Lockdown and Home Schooling

  • Learn to be a little more flexible in your approach to things, such as work time, free time, screen time without compromising reasonable boundaries, structure and discipline principles.
  • Sit with your child and ‘ check in’ with them, making sure that they feel comfortable to vent their frustrations, concerns and worries with you.
  • Highlight the importance of your child connecting with friends and family in any way they can.
  • Let your child know that it is ok to be uneasy or a little anxious with the unknown or the uncertain future and try and normalise this feelingPsap.
  • Emphasize the certainty of some aspects of life where possible, such as family time, exercise, good eating habits and the importance of getting some sunshine per day/vitamin D even if 15 minutes a day.
  • Keep kids busy and ideally keep to a routine.
  • Make sure your children are still safe online and are aware of who they are interacting with.
